How to Build an Autonomous X Agent with Hermes Agent and Codex CLI

@Bigbullapp Technology 6 min read

A serious X agent does not need more motivational prompting. It needs receipts, taste, brakes, and a browser that does not behave like a raccoon with Wi-Fi.

Hermes Agent is a useful base because it already carries the boring pieces most automation projects rediscover badly: memory, cron, gateways, skills, and model routing. com/NousResearch/hermes-agent Codex CLI is the workshop around it.

It inspects the actual files, patches plugins, runs audits, screenshots failures, and turns vague "make it better" energy into code that can be reviewed. The goal is not a bot that posts all day.

That is how accounts become landfill with a profile picture. The goal is an editor-agent: discover signal, write drafts, reject weak ones, publish carefully, and learn from what happened.

BASE STACK The model writes. The system decides whether the draft deserves a browser.
