The Death of Prompt Engineering — And What Comes After in AI

Prompt engineering is dead. Not because prompts no longer matter.

But because writing longer, more detailed prompts is no longer the highest-leverage way to get great work from AI. For a while, the best advice was: learn to write better prompts.

Give the AI a role. Add lots of rules.

Tell it exactly what to do in step one, step two, step three. Include examples.

Add warnings. Add formatting instructions.
